Music by The Piano Brothers

Mike Douglas McDonald was born January 15, 1962 to Joe and Anna Fairlene McDonald in Woodward, Oklahoma. He passed from this life to his eternal home on April 1, 2019 in Beaver, Oklahoma surrounded by family. He had one older brother, Mark, and one younger brother, Brent. His early school years were spent in Kansas and North Carolina before settling in Balko, Oklahoma where he graduated high school in 1980. While in high school, he was an active member in FFA where he enjoyed showing animals and was also a standout athlete competing in football, basketball, and track. His first year of college he attended Oklahoma Panhandle State University and then transferred to Northwestern Oklahoma State University to play quarterback for the Ranger Football Team. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in finance in 1984 and soon after made his home in Beaver, Oklahoma. He began building the successful business of M&Z Consultants with lifelong friend and business partner, Dennis Zimmerman and also, Tracy Edwards, another lifelong friend, and Bear Creek Investment was formed.  Mike served his community as a member of Rotary Club, City Board Member, First Security Bank Board Member, Panhandle Telephone Board Member, and was a lifelong member of the Baptist Church where he was saved at an early age. His love of sports led him to spend many hours improving the Duster athletic facilities and coaching his daughters on the softball field and basketball court.

Mike met his lifelong best friend and soulmate, Shelly, in January 1991 and the two were married shortly thereafter on September 28, 1991 in Beaver, Oklahoma. This union was blessed with three daughters, Tara, Devry, and Anna. Mike was most known for his love for family and his legacy will always live on in his grandchildren-Jaxon, Oakley, Karlee, Kasen, Mikel & Jakoby Hastings, Emersyn Hardin & Landyn Lusk, & Rigley Mikah Bridwell. Mike’s most treasured memories were those spent with his family fishing, hunting, golfing and relaxing at the lake.

Mike is preceded in death by his grandparents and parents, Joe and Anna Fairlene. He is survived by his wife, Shelly, of their home, daughter Tara and husband Patrick & their children of Ponder, TX, daughter Devry and husband Brad & their daughters of Plano, TX, & daughter Anna and her husband Jacob & their daughter of Beaver, OK. Brother Mark and his wife Cara of Beaver, Brother Brent of Sharon, OK, Sister-in-law Jacque and husband Charlie of Fairview, OK. Mother-in-law Linda Cash of Vici, OK, very close friends, Scott and Kellie Richerson of Stillwater, OK. A host of nieces and nephews, and tons of friends.

Mike’s most precious legacy he leaves for his family is his love for the Lord and being faithful in the service of Christ.

To the whole-family:
Words aren't coming as to what to say except you were each and every one fighting the good-fight all the way to the end; doing so faithfully. I know you are exhausted but regretting not one minute or step of it. Jacob and Anna, I didn't know there were now three in your family. May God hold His unchanging hands in yours, I can assure you He will never drop yours. Grieve-as-you must, not-as-others will tell you is right, wrong or indifferent.
CANCER CANNOT ~

Cancer is-so-limited.
It cannot-cripple-love,
cannot-shatter-hope,
cannot-corrode-faith,
cannot-eat-away peace,
cannot-destroy-confidence,
cannot-kill-friendship,
cannot-shut-out memories,
cannot-silence-courage,
cannot-invade-a soul,
cannot-reduce-eternal life
and
cannot-lessen-the power-of-resurrection

You never get over it, you get through it

Love to all ~
Jackie; Kelly and Beth Penland; Ty and Lacey Quadrelli; Conner Wolkens; Chris, Mariah and Reagan Penland
