Billy Kent Hoover was born on January 11, 1937 to Jasper Earnest & Lizzie Belle [Brock] Hoover near Elmwood, OK.  He was the 8th child of 11 children.

As a young boy he attended church camp with the First Baptist Church at Gibson Baptist Assembly near Hardesty, OK. Kent made his profession of faith while at camp around the age of 8. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Beaver during his youth.

Kent attended Beaver Public school and graduated with the class of 1956.  He had fond memories of attending school in Beaver.  He often talked about playing football, basketball and running track. He told about moving from the school building on Avenue G to the current location.  He told about running mile at the State Track meet.

Following High School graduation Kent moved to Boulder Colorado to attend the University of Colorado.  He attended for one year. He was drafted into the army in 1959.

Kent served two years in Germany where he did communications and drove a jeep.  Upon return to the states he married Jane [Furney] Hoover on July 23, 1961 in Boulder Colorado.

The couple moved to Perryton, Texas where Kent started his 30+ years with General Telephone & Electric Co. as an installer/repairman. Kent and Jane had 3 children; Diane, Jeff & Eldon.

Kent was an avid Beaver Duster supporter and attended as many games, concerts and events as he was able, especially when his kids and grandkids were involved.

Kent’s greatest joy was spending time with his family, kids and grandkids.  He involved them in every area of his life and encouraged them in theirs.

He had a quick wit and rarely met a stranger.  He teased anyone who would tease him back. He enjoyed camping, fishing and golf as well as watching Football on Saturday and Sunday afternoon.  He enjoyed working on radios or other electronics in his building or tinkering with his pick-up.

He is proceeded in death by his Mother & Father, Youngest son Eldon, 4 of his brothers, all 4 of his sisters and 3 nephews.

He is survived by his wife Jane of Beaver, daughter Diane and husband Jim of Edmond, Son Jeff & wife Michelle of Enid, Daughter in law Rhonda of Beaver.  7 grandchildren; Caleb & Wife Megan Glennie of Goodyear, AZ, Arika Taylor and husband Zac of Oklahoma City, OK, Kalie Welch and husband Tyler of Guthrie, OK, Brianna Hoover of Shawnee, OK,  Arin Glennie of Weatherford, OK, Acacia Hoover of Beaver, OK.  Brothers Larry Hoover & Wife Pat, of Park Hill OK, and Joe Hoover & wife Diana of Lewis Ks as well as a many nieces and Nephews.

Jane and family ~
I am so saddened to see this post but know Kent is not suffering. I have missed his hugs since moving to Stillwater but I am so happy here where I am loving great granddaughter (Chris and Mariah, Reagan will be 2 in
September) and Conner (Lacey, will be 9 in January and Lacey's new husband, Ty). The grandchildren are loving me as are Beth and Kelly. Kent was a fun and loving Christian family man and I know from just- turned 17 years of experience you will miss him tremendously as he was a great companion. My best-advice to you all is hold tightly to our Lord's unchanging and unfailing hands, lean heavily in His loving-arms. Grieve-as-you must, not-as-others will tell you is right, wrong or indifferent. Walk the pathway He will carry you as there is only one but each has their own. I am sorry health won't allow my coming to hug you personally but know my thoughts, prayers and love will be there with you. I love all.
