David Doyal Greer was born on May 18, 1941 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Doyal A. and Doris Lee Greer. He was the grandson of Frank and Edna Haynie, longtime Prague residents.

He attended Prague Public Schools before joining the military and was stationed in Gary, Indiana with a Nike Missile Unit. Following his military service, he returned to Oklahoma and attended Murray State at Tishomingo, Oklahoma. It was there that he met his loving wife of 58 years, Tena Looney. They were married at the First Baptist Church of Russett, Oklahoma on March 2, 1963. David graduated from OU in 1966.

In 1966, David and Tena moved to Prague, Oklahoma to settle down and start a family. This is where he used his artistic skills and abilities in helping his grandmother in her floral wreath business and at the same time he began his pottery career.

He showed his work at numerous galleries and art exhibits across the United States, some included the Smithsonian, Gilcrease Museum in Tulsa, Oklahoma and in Temple Emanuel in Dallas, Texas and had pieces donated to dignitaries worldwide.

He served on the board of directors at War Eagle, Arkansas and taught Raku pottery there for many years during summers.

David’s heart was always with what was best for the community of Prague. He served on many committees and worked with many organizations and helped with keeping Prague Hospital operable. He donated the building housing the Haynie Library in honor of his grandparents.

David has always been supportive of the athletics and academic programs of Prague Schools.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Gordon Greer.

David passed at his residence on June 16, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.

David is survived by his wife, Tena,  of the home; his children, Courtney Kelley and husband Cody of Prague, Oklahoma; his son, Nate Greer and  wife, Katy, of Prague, Oklahoma; son, David Greer of Meeker, Oklahoma; grandchildren Lane and Reed Kelley and Harper and Lincoln Greer of Prague, Oklahoma whom were his pride; brother, Gene Greer of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; sister, Linda Odland, Midwest City, Oklahoma and a host of other relatives and friends.

David was one of my first bosses at Ken's Pizza in Chandler. Worked for him for many years. Picky? Tough? Oh heck yeah. But this man picked me up more than he ever put me down. He taught me so many things about business and management. He honed so many of my work ethics, and I am forever grateful. RIP, David. Probably the only thing that ever slowed you down.
Much love to Tena and family.
