Robert Ralph Gillaspie Jr. was born September 22, 1952 to Robert Ralph Gillaspie and Catherine Wallace Gillaspie.  He passed away on September 8, 2021 at the age of 68 in his home in Beaver, Oklahoma.

He was raised in Elkhart, Kansas and played many sports in school but developed a real love for baseball.  During his school age years, he was given the nickname “Junie.”  He graduated from Elkhart High School in 1971.  Junie then attended barber school in Wichita, Kansas.  Upon completion of barber school, he returned to Elkhart to work in his dad’s barber shop.

In 1973, Junie was offered a job with Colorado Interstate Gas Co.  It was during this time he was given a new nickname, Sarge, because his dad had been a Sargent in the Army. In 1976, Sarge moved to Fort Morgan, Colorado as a measurement tech, but he really missed being a welder.  In 1978 he moved to Pueblo, Colorado as a welder.  In 1983 Sarge was able to get a senior welder job in Beaver, Oklahoma where he worked until he retired. During his 30 years working in the natural gas industry Sarge acquired many job titles including utility man, truck driver, measurement tech, and senior welder.

During his time in Beaver, Sarge joined the Beaver gun club, enjoyed riding horses and taking care of his house dog, Socks.

Sarge is preceded in death by his parents, Robert “Bob” and Catherine Gillaspie.

Gage, You were like family to Sarge and he lived a lot longer because of you. Yes, Sarge will be missed but he is not hurting any more. Rest in Peace my good buddy.
