I was associated with Chuck through Forgan Fire Department for 27 years, as Rural Fire Defense Coordinator for OEDA.  When I needed to visit with someone about Forgan's FD, Chuck was the one I could catch (a stationary target, whereas the chiefs, whose job as often as not took them out of town, sometimes couldn't be there) and Chuck knew more about the overall finances and operation of the department than the others, as his tenure with the department spanned many more years.  It was Chuck and his members and inmates who turned the excess military trucks, tanks, generators, etc. into serviceable fire apparatus, and Chuck took it upon himself to make sure the run reports were made to the State Fire Marshal's office.  He also made himself available to be present when grant checks were presented to the county's fire departments annually at the court house.  Chuck was easy to work with and cooperative, but he was also a personal friend.  I congratulate you, Sue and sons and their families, for having such a husband, father, father-in-law, and grandfather!

Please accept my sincere sympathy at the death of Uncle Charlie.  He had left home and was in the Navy by the time my mother's (Cecelia's) family came along so I don't really remember him.  His obituary tells the story of a man dedicated to his church, his family and his community.  Clearly, he will be missed by all who knew him.  May God bless him and all of you and comfort you with His peace and your memories.
