My sincerest condolences to hear of such a fantastic soul passing from the adventure on this world and onto the next one.  I remember meeting him long ago when he came to join our explorer post...a tall kid with a big smile and a cheesy moustache.  He fit into our crazy post and learned fast the skills need to be part of SaR.  He did inspire and lead a lot of us to host a ESAR conference in 1993.  He always gave hugs to anyone who needed it and made all feel welcome.  He will be missed dearly by all who were touched by his presence.  Watch over us Ben with mom!  Love you my friend! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I had the honor & privilege to get to serve in the military with Ben and we were both even in the same section in the 137th LRS Oklahoma Air Nat'l Guard so I got to work closely with Ben during numerous drill weekends & active duty days. The things I will always remember about Ben is he always came ready & prepared to work and always had a smile on his face & a positive attitude  Ben also had a great sense of humor & that is what I liked most about him. Our job in supply was very important. We issued gear & supplies to deploying troops. While it was important it could also get kind of repetitious and monotonous at times so it wasn't exactly an exciting job and some days it could get long & boring but it was still a very important job that had to be carried out. Ben's great sense of humor definitely made it much more enjoyable of a work environment.  I had a pretty good sense of humor too so Ben & i were always making the best out of situations that weren't always so enjoyable. I couldn't have asked for a better guy to get to work with. Ben had lots of friends in LRS and the Oklahoma Air Guard and we are ALL better for having known him. It is with deep sorrow i have to say goodbye for now to a good friend and fellow Patriot but I do look forward to the time when we will rejoice in a reunion together in Heaven. In the mean time Rest in Peace my brother & my sincerest condolences to Kelli and the rest of Ben's family.

I did not know Ben personally, but my daughter, Jacki Sherrell, spoke so highly of him after he helped her get a job with Bennett, that I feel like I knew him. My heart goes out to you Kelli and family. He is now well and in God's hands.

To my friend Ben,
I met you the first day of my beginning as substitute  bass player for LJ in 38 Special on 8/13/2013. You were right there offering your help and making me feel welcome to this new family. Now, after so many good memories my heart aches knowing how much you suffered in your last days of life on this earth.
Thank you Ben, for your faithful service to everyone you met.
Love and respect, Godspeed.
Barn
