Anna Cherney Adams

Anna Cherney Adams, 97, of Sterling, CO passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2026, in Loveland. Viewing and visitation with the family will be held from 1 – 4 p.m., Wednesday, June 24 at Halouska Family Chaney-Reager FH. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 25 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Young officiating. Anna will be laid to rest at Forgan Cemetery in Forgan, Oklahoma.

Anna was born on May 12, 1929, in Forest, Wisconsin to John K. Cherney and Frances (Lunacek) Cherney. She graduated from Sterling High School in 1948 and attended Northeastern Junior College in 1972 where she received her clerk/typist certificate. Anna married Edgell Arthur Adams in 1948 in Sterling, Colorado. She worked as a library assistant at Sterling Junior High and Sterling High School for 15 years.

Anna was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Humanities Club and Girls Scouts. She loved getting to know other people because, as she put it, “Everyone has a story.” She loved helping and doing things for family and friends in their times of need. Mom enjoyed traveling and took us on many adventures to see family and places around the country. One summer, she quit her job, packed our van, and took daughter Martha on a five-week road trip to New Mexico and Arizona. What an adventure! Many more adventures followed with the grandkids, as well. Anna loved to cook and enjoyed trying new recipes. Holidays and birthdays were special and were celebrated with great joy and wonderful food.

Anna grew a large garden and planted beautiful flowers for many years. She enjoyed sharing the produce with family and neighbors. Anna valued her relationships with family and friends. She loved them all.

She is preceded in death by her husband Edgell and daughter Elizabeth “Beth” Adams.

Anna is survived by her son John Michael (Stephanie “Stevie”) Adams of Vista, CA, daughter Martha (David) Steen of Loveland, CO, 2 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
