Billy Truman Calhoun

Billy Truman Calhoun was born January 19, 1929 on the family farm Southwest of colony Oklahoma, to Thomas and Caroline Calhoun.

As a young boy, he attended school in colony until the school burn down, then he attended the local Indian school until the eighth grade. Bill had to quit school to help on the family farm, as his father was legally blind.

The family later moved into Cordell and Billy was called up to military duty. He was stationed in Fort Lewis, Washington with the Army. After his discharge, Bill went on a harvest crew and ended up in Chivington, Colorado. He leased some land and farmed it until the drought. At this time, he went to work for Home Oil filling station, in Eads, Colorado. While working in Eads, he met the love of his life, Barbara Kelley and on June 10, 1956 married her in the United Methodist Church.

Bill got a job with Colorado Interstate Gas, and they lived in Boise city Oklahoma. Later he transferred to the Mocane plant near Beaver Oklahoma. He was with the company for 31 years.

Bill had many hobbies. He enjoyed coyote hunting, playing his electric guitar, snow, skiing, water, skiing, and camping.

He was a proud cowboy and loved working cattle, and riding his horse. He helped local farmers and ranchers, cutting wheat, rounding up cattle, and feeding and watering cattle during the winter.

Bill loved sharing jokes with his grandson Dustin.

His favorite place in the world was the mountains of Colorado at “the cabin” near South Fork, Colorado. He loved fly fishing, and wrestling a big brown or trout out of the Rio Grande River.

Bill passed this life on September 13, 2025 at his home in Edmond Oklahoma.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, three brothers, Virgil, Argil, Ova and his sister Opal. A brother-in-law, Robert Kelley and a nephew, David Crow.

Bill survived by his wife of 69 years Bobbie, A daughter Mechille, Two grandchildren, Ashley Pester; Dustin (Sarah) Pester; Four great grandchildren., Emma, Bryson, Laynie, and Rendi all of Edmond, Oklahoma.
