Charles "Chuck" Arnold Bowker

April 22, 1933 — April 5, 2023

Charles Arnold “Chuck” Bowker passed away April 5, 2023 at BSA Hospital in Amarillo, Texas at the age of 89. He was born on April 22, 1933 in Buffalo, OK to Arnold and Edith Bowker. He was one of five children, three brothers – Ronald, Jimmy, and Billy and one sister – Ramona White.

Chuck graduated from Laverne High School in Oklahoma in 1950. He joined the US Navy after graduation where he served for three years. He married Wanda Lake in 1956 and had two children – a daughter, Jodi Rogers and a son, Charles Arlie. He joined the US Army in 1957 and served 18 years where he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. After retirement he moved to Beaver, OK where he was the Beaver City Manager. This is where he met and married Dorine Venable. At the time of his passing they had been married for 44 years.

Chuck worked for several oil field construction companies – Brown & Son, Fields & Sons, and M&M before retiring and making his home in Beaver until health issues in 2020 caused him and Dorine to move to Amarillo, TX to be closer to her family.

He is preceded in death by his parents (Arnold & Edith), his three brothers (Ronald, Billy, and Jimmy) and his sister (Ramona White), one grandson (Darren Searcy), one granddaughter (Jenny Laurell Roger), and one niece (Jamie Drew); one step-son, Tommy Blackwell and one

son in law, Vernon Searcy.

 

He is survived by his wife Dorine of the home; sons Charles Arlie of Oklahoma City, Freddie Blackwell and Andi of Amarillo, TX, Melvin Blackwell and his wife Clydene of Gatesville, TX, Glen Blackwell and his wife Trinka of Amarillo, TX, Dennis Venable and LeAnn of Laverne, OK; daughters Jodi Rogers of Oklahoma City, Joyce Myers and her husband Marvin of Canyon, TX, Marty Brisco of Amarillo, TX; one sister-in-law Sula Bowker; 25 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren.
