Donita Ann (Thornberry) Westenhaver peacefully gained her wings on January 10, 2025. Donita was born August 27, 1959 to John William Douglas and Norma Thornberry in Beaver, Oklahoma
Growing up Donita was a vivacious, beautiful, fun-loving, intelligent young lady. She participated in Band, Basketball, Track, Drama Club and Cheerleading. She excelled in all, graduating in 1977.
On October 1, 1976, Donita was united in marriage to Robby Westenhaver. To this union two children were born. Jennifer Ann on May 3, 1977 and Ryan James on June 16, 1978. They made their home in Beaver then later moved to Liberal, KS., where Donita pursued a career in Nursing. She attended Seward County Community College graduating with honors and obtaining her Associate’s degree as an LPN.
Donita and her children later moved to Woodward, OK where she worked in the Nursing Field as well as various other jobs. Donita resided in Woodward at the time of her death.
Donita loved deeply and always stood up for what she believed in. Jennifer and Ryan were her greatest blessings. She was in love with them the minute they were born. Then, along came her grandchildren, Hannah Jean, Benjamin James and Lucy Michelle. They were the light of her life and brought her so much joy. She loved them fiercely. She enjoyed reading to them, watching Disney movies and making Puffy Pallets and loved receiving videos, pictures and messages from them.
Donita was an excellent cook. She could throw a meal together with hardly anything and it was always delicious. She knew how to spice things up. Of course, she came from a long line of excellent cooks in the family. She was an avid reader and journalist and journaled life events for years. She enjoyed old Black & White Movies and Classic Rock Music, Elton John being one of her favorite artists. She felt at peace being around nature and water. All in all, Donita loved the simple things in life, but above all she loved her family deeply and passionately.
