Doris was born on Sept.14, 1929 at the family home at Elmwood, Okla. to J W and Mabel Parker. She was the 7th child of 10 brothers and sisters. They were a close knit family and some of her best memories are times spent with her family. Even as an adult she loved being with her siblings as they all traveled and spent many hours together laughing and having fun together. Doris attended school at Elmwood School and graduated from Beaver HS in May of 1947. She went to Abilene, Tx in Aug of that year to attend business school, but a young man named Keith Thomas had other plans for her. He went to Abilene and proposed and she came home and married Keith on Sept 20, 1947. They were happily married for 72 years before his death in 2020.
Doris & Keith built their life together on a farm at Balko, Okla where they farmed and ranched for almost 70 years. In March of 2016, they moved to Beaver.
Her family will always cherish her memory as a perfect example of the virtuous wife and mother of Proverbs 31. She was a wife of noble character and worth far more than rubies. She brought her husband good all the days of her life, and her children call her blessed. She was a woman who feared the Lord and is to be praised.
Doris is survived by her children, Ed and Cindy Thomas of Beaver, Rusty and Shelly Thomas of Beaver and Sharon McKinney of Amarillo, Texas, her grandchildren, Stefanie and Jon Decker of Amarillo, Trey Thomas of Balko, Chase Thomas of Tulsa, Chastyn Thomas of Beaver and Hope and Rusty McGuire of Laverne, her great grandchildren, Adam, Sam and Claire Decker, Natalie Nichols, Conner Thomas, Miles and Grant McGuire and Ryder Thomas. She is also survived by a sister, Maxine Hibbs of Durant, Okla. and a sister in law, Lavora Parker of Bokchito, Okla. and numerous nieces and nephews and the extended Thomas family of sister and brother in laws, Imogene Hatcher, Janis and Eddie Vowell, and Arline and Darrell Looper.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson, David Thomas, and son in law, Donny McKinney.
Also her siblings, Harold and Ruth Parker, Richard Parker and Florine, Bernard Parker and Cecilia, Chubby and Vernabelle Parker, Gene Parker, Lenora and Joe Gile, Gayle Hamilton, Shirley and Gordon Shuck and brother in law, Leon Hibbs.
