Elvin George Ullrich, born April 22, 1936 on a farm in Beaver, Oklahoma, passed away on November 24, 2021, after a short illness. He was 85 years old.
Elvin grew up on the farm and loved it. Planting, harvesting, baling hay, and working the cattle. He loved the farm life, long days and hard work. He especially loved driving a tractor or truck. For several years, Elvin worked for the Oklahoma Highway Department, repairing roads, driving a truck or tractor, mowing, and flagging traffic.
In 1957, Elvin married Willia Shrum from Camargo, Oklahoma, which brought forth three children that were raised four miles from the family homestead. In 1965, his mother-in-law passed away leaving 10 children still living in the Shrum home. Elvin and Willia brought several to stay with them providing support, the ability to remain in school - to have a place to call home.
Elvin was always up for a good domino game. He was also ready to lend a helping hand to anyone needing one. His unselfish nature often resulted in supplying help to move someone and even having the occasional lodger at different times.
In the 70’s Elvin and Willia moved to Midwest City, Oklahoma and bought a home, where she resided until her death in 2002. Elvin missed and moved back to the farm, before moving into an Assisted Living Center in Laverne, Oklahoma. Eventually, he moved to a Nursing Home in Oklahoma City, closer to his immediate family.
Elvin is preceded in death by parents, W H (Bill) Ullrich and Iva (Barker) Ullrich, his brothers Warren and Charles, and sister Norma Smith and great grandson, Justin Ray Baker. Elvin is survived by his children Randy, Rochelle Mote, and Kevin, four grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Elvin will be greatly missed by his large extended family, many friends, and acquaintances.
