Francisco Cortez

Francisco Ures Cortez was born on February 15, 1942 in San Salvador, Mexico to Pantaleon and Catarina Cortez. He attended school until he was in sixth grade and he dropped out to help his family. He came to America in 1965 and lived in Progreso, Texas. He was a Grinder for many years in the mechanic industry. He enjoyed gardening and raising peacocks and chickens. He enjoyed working cattle. He was a true cowboy working beside his father.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Yolanda R. Cortez, Step mother, Elisa Cortez, and his siblings, sister Lidia Halliburton, brother, Casimiro V. Cortez and brother, Guadalupe Cortez.

Francisco silently passed away at his home on June 15th, 2025 where his children prayed for peace and love.

He is survived by his children, Marlene Cortez, Francisco Cortez, Jr. and Denise Cortez; his grandchildren, Erin Zender, Andrew Cortez, and Tyler Cortez; his Great Granddaughters, Rhiane Cortez and Ryleigh Cortez; siblings, Ester Ward, Simona Cortez, Paula Cortez, Librada Cortez, Maria Martinez, Tranquiline Cortez, Eustacio Cortez, Andres Cortez, Pantaleon Cortez, Jr., and Jose Cortez.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, June 24th in Fostoria, Ohio with interment to follow in the St. Wendelin Cemetery, Fostoria, Ohio.
