George William Loepp

September 26, 1916 — June 20, 2015

Long-time resident, George Loepp, died June 20, 2015, at age 98. Born in Floris, Ok, George started his education at Locust Grove School and graduated from high school at Greenough, not realizing that education would later become his career. Newly graduated from Panhandle College and newly married to Kathlyn, they began teaching in Turpin before the war drew him to Wichita, Ks, to become a design engineer at Boeing and Beechcraft airplane factories. Janis and im were born in Wichita, Ks, and an infant son, Gary, who died at birth. The young family returned to teach at Beaver and Liberal, Ks, before moving to their farm at Forgan. George taught 6th grade, was a principal and later was name Supertintendent of the Forgan Schools. He loved sports of all kinds, and especially coaching grade school girls basketball, At his retirement, the football field was named in his honor. George and Kathlyn moved to Beaver after he retired from farming and ranching. After Kathlyn's death in 2007, George moved to Edmond, Ok, to be nearer his son, Jim.

 

The family requests memorials to the Forgan Public Schools or the United Methodist Church.
