Jerry "Bird" Alvin Swallow

Jerry “Bird” Alvin Swallow was born on January 8, 1957 to Kenneth and Mary Swallow in Beaver, Oklahoma.

Bird was the youngest of 3 children along with sister Frances and brother, “Bud” Harold. He graduated from Forgan High School.

He had many jobs over his short lifetime. He maintained yards for the community, worked at Beech Aircraft in Liberal, Kansas and Wichita Kansas. He also worked for local farmers during harvest and in the oilfield. He then worked security at stores in Liberal, Kansas and the State of Oklahoma at Beaver State Park and then transferred to the Freedom State Park.

After coming back home, he worked for Schwan’s and National Beef out of Liberal, Kansas as a security guard.

Bird enjoyed many activities like hunting, fishing, football and Nascar. He loved being around his family and howling at the moon and all got a kick out of that.

Jerry “Bird” passed away on January 10, 2021. He left peacefully at home with his companion, Jill Swartz, by his side.

Bird is survived by his sister, Frances “Fran” and Jim Mitchell, of Beaver, Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Norma Swallow Piersall and GD and family of Follett, Texas and Jill Swartz and family of Tyrone; also many nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends from all walks of life.

He is dearly missed by all who knew him.
