John William *JW* Wann

John William Wann (J.W.) was born to Troy Lee and Sadie Laverne Wann on November 4, 1930 in Fairfax, Okla. He attended school and graduated from Fairfax ISD. As a basketball player for the Fairfax Red Devils, J.W. owned the high school record for most career points, even though he had lost the sight in his right eye in a rubber band fight with his brother.

J.W. met Jewell Marie Branch in the fall of 1951. Two weeks to the day they met, J.W. and Jewell were married on his birthday, November 4, 1951. On November 10, 1954, they welcomed their daughter Berta Jolando. Three years later, their son John William Wann, Jr. was born. J.W. And Jewell were blessed with five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

J.W. was a faithful member of Beaver United Methodist Church, Beaver, Okla. Members of the church will attest to the fact that J.W. rarely missed a Sunday.

J.W.’s love of golfing could be seen almost every day at the Beaver Municipal Golf Course. Beaver golfers will attest to the fact that very few days would go by that J.W. could not be seen either playing a round of golf or practicing his putting.

Pete, a friendly dog, was J.W.’s companion and love of his later years.

The family asks that memorials be made to the United Methodist Church or the Beaver

Municipal Golf Course.

This is the day that the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it.  Psalm 118, vs. 24

Memorials may be made to Beaver Golf Club or Beaver United Methodist Church.

I love JW and cherish my time as his pastor. I officiated Jewel's funeral. I'm sad to read he passed but rejoice they are together. Rest in peace my friend

We loved Jewel & JW so much , so many sweet memories, some humorous as when Jewel drove the golf cart in reverse at a tournament when it wouldn't go forward....

Yes, J. W. was most faithful; always late but always there. J. W. and Jewell were one of my best home-delivered meals couples when I was manager of Beaver Nutrition Site; J. W. was always there to pick up their meals while they were hot or cold which was what Jewell wanted. Grieve-as-you must, not-as-others will tell you is right, wrong or indifferent. Remember, you are not orphaned as-long-as you cling tightly to our Lord's unfailing hand as He will never leave you.

Truly one of the “Great”ones. He will be missed and this world was a better place with him in it. Condolences to the family.

God blesses us with special people in our lives and J.W. and Jewel were very special to me. Growing up with Johnny I was privileged to spend alot of my time around them. I would stop in Beaver and see family and look up J.W. and spend some time visiting with him. Not a more honorable man have I met! God be with the family and friends while we morn, and celebrate his life! Rest in Peace Sir!
