John William Wann (J.W.) was born to Troy Lee and Sadie Laverne Wann on November 4, 1930 in Fairfax, Okla. He attended school and graduated from Fairfax ISD. As a basketball player for the Fairfax Red Devils, J.W. owned the high school record for most career points, even though he had lost the sight in his right eye in a rubber band fight with his brother.
J.W. met Jewell Marie Branch in the fall of 1951. Two weeks to the day they met, J.W. and Jewell were married on his birthday, November 4, 1951. On November 10, 1954, they welcomed their daughter Berta Jolando. Three years later, their son John William Wann, Jr. was born. J.W. And Jewell were blessed with five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
J.W. was a faithful member of Beaver United Methodist Church, Beaver, Okla. Members of the church will attest to the fact that J.W. rarely missed a Sunday.
J.W.’s love of golfing could be seen almost every day at the Beaver Municipal Golf Course. Beaver golfers will attest to the fact that very few days would go by that J.W. could not be seen either playing a round of golf or practicing his putting.
Pete, a friendly dog, was J.W.’s companion and love of his later years.
The family asks that memorials be made to the United Methodist Church or the Beaver
Municipal Golf Course.
This is the day that the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118, vs. 24
