Jose Lopez

José López, age 63 of Forgan passed away on September 30th 2026 at BSA in Amarillo TX. He

was born March 19th 1963 in San Miguel de Allende Guanajuato. Second and only son of four

children to Carmelo and Anita Lopez Ramirez. He came to the US at the age of 16 looking for

work and a better future.

On December 18th 1987, he married Maribel Montoya, who would be by his side until the end.

Jose and Maribel were blessed with two children Maria and Jose Jesus (JJ) Lopez. He worked

farming and ranching for years. His family couldn’t keep him home even on his bad days. After

work, he even went home and took care of his own animals. He was an amazing father that

provided for his family no matter what. In 2012 and 2018 he was blessed with two grandkids,

Vianca and Damian. They became the center of his world. You would often see Damian

following behind him checking the animals. The last few years of his life, he suffered many

illnesses, but would never give up.

Jose is preceded in death by his parents and his son Jose (JJ) Lopez. He is survived by his wife of

almost 39 years Maribel Lopez, his daughter Maria Avila and husband Cesar Avila. His two

grandkids Vianca Avila, Damian Avila, his 3 sisters, and many nieces nephews, family and

friends.
