We announce with deep sorrow the passing of Lois Byrum. Born on August 10, 1933, as the eldest of six children, Lois departed on November 6, 2024. Her life was a testament to love, care, and steadfast dedication to her family. She radiated warmth and forgiveness, touching the lives of all with her distinctive charm and grace.
Lois discovered her soulmate in Ted Byrum, and they wed in 1952. Their remained unbroken, enriched with mutual dreams, love, understanding, and respect. While raising their two sons, they imparted their values to them for future generations.
A woman of simple tastes, Lois was a fan of Wheel of Fortune and the Oklahoma Sooners. She indulged in Diet Coke and her favorite game, Rummikub. A lover of the color pink, this reflected her warm and vibrant personality. Her recreational activities included sewing, gardening, and, above all, spending time with family. Lois strongly believed in taking care of everyone around her and instilled this vital lesson in her loved ones. Lois and Ted welcomed numerous nieces and nephews into their home, providing a nurturing and secure environment. Their kindness also reached Margaret Murphree, who stayed with them for a short period, and they nearly adopted her before her premature passing in 1985.
Lois left an indelible mark in the Beaver community by driving a school bus for Beaver County School District for an incredible 50 years. She also lent her support to the Beaver County Fair every year. She lovingly sewed clothing for her family and many people of the community. Her family was her world, and these accomplishments were her way of giving back to the community that housed and nurtured the people she loved.
Lois Byrum transcended her life's experiences. She was a treasured wife, a devoted mother, a joyful grandmother and aunt, and an esteemed community member. Her passing creates an irreplaceable emptiness, yet her legacy endures through the lives she influenced. May her soul find everlasting peace.
The last few years of Lois’s life were a struggle as the ugly grip of dementia and Alzheimer's took hold. One by one, the memories of a beautiful life flickered and dimmed.
Her dedicated family included a son, Jim Byrum, and four beloved grandchildren - Karen (Dave) Merica, Jennifer Byrum, Daniel (Amanda) Byrum, and Jeremy (Tracey) Byrum, along with 7 great-grandchildren - Jarrod (Loryn) Byrum, Brianna (Kenzy) Byrum, Lois 'Michele' Steinborn, Kendall (Chris) Vinson, Kelly Byrum, Rick Byrum, Tanner Byrum and one great-great-grandchild Braelynn - all who brought immense joy to her life.
She was predeceased by her sons, Ricky and Ronny Byrum. Parents Loren 'Clyde' and Verna Adkins. Brothers - Loren 'Larry' Adkins, Gary (Tub) Dean Adkins, Robert (Bobby) Clyde Adkins. Sisters - Carolyn Margaret Adkins, Beverly Jean Adkins.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Alzheimer's Association to help rid this terrible disease.
