Mary Ellen Sprague, 84, passed away Sunday, November 14, 2024, at the Beaver County Nursing Home, Beaver Oklahoma.
The daughter of Royal George and Mary Idabel (Hart) Landers, Mary Ellen was born on June 22, 1940, in Floris, Oklahoma.
Mary graduated with the Forgan High School Class of 1959. She married classmate Gerald Jones in January of 1960. They later divorced. To this union was born a son Boyd Jones.
Mary married George Edward (Eddie) Parum in April of 1968. He preceded her in death.
On June 16, 1973, Mary was united in marriage to her husband of 51 years, John Nelson Sprague. They made their home on a ranch near Elmwood, Oklahoma. Mary was an avid horsewoman and loved the great outdoors and tending to her many animals.
Mary worked for many years outside the home as a cook at the Elmwood Café, Garrett School, and the Beaver County Nursing Home. Mary was known for inviting family to her home for a meal of rabbit, frog legs, or turtle soup,
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband John, and son Boyd. She was also preceded in death by brothers Charles (Butch) Landers, Bill Landers, Roy (Jack) Landers, Carl (PeeWee) Landers, sister and brother-in-law Viola and Glen Bryan, and niece Verna McCulley.
Survivors include nephews Douglas Bryan (Cliffa), Danny Bryan, niece Nora Bowers (Bret), nephew Richard Landers (Susan), and niece Linda Day (Gordon), along with numerous other nieces, nephews, and great, and great great nieces and nephews.
