Owen married the love of his life, Carolina (Padilla) Searcy on June 18, 1977, in Guymon, Oklahoma.

After returning home from Alaska, they moved to Forgan, Oklahoma and he returned to work for Nichols Water Services for a time before moving to Dalhart, Texas where he worked as a mechanic before moving to Stratford, Texas where he continued his mechanic career.

Owen and Carolina moved to Amarillo, Texas in 1990 where he worked for CX Cement Company for thirteen years. Eventually, the company became the Schwerman Cement Company, at which point he started as a truck driver. Owen worked his way up to be the lead trucking supervisor, a career he held until his retirement in 2020.

Following his retirement, Owen and Carolina moved back to Beaver, where he drove the transit bus until his passing.

One of Owen’s hobbies was trap shooting, where he won many awards and belt buckles. Owen made many friends in his ventures and he loved visiting with family and friends. Two of his best friends were their fur babies, Bobo and Candie.
