Sheldon Samuel Shook, age 89, died Thursday, September 19, 2024, at BSA Hospital in Amarillo, Texas. Lemoyne Kennedy Shook, age 85, died April 30, 2025, at Amarillo Center for Skilled Care in Amarillo, Texas.
Sheldon was born August 23, 1935, in Beaver, Oklahoma, to Vernon and Alice Shook. He graduated from Beaver High School in 1954 and served in both the US Army and the US Air Force. Lemoyne was born August 7, 1939, in Chelsea, Oklahoma, to Guy and Rae Kennedy. In 1957 she graduated from Chelsea High School.
Sheldon and Lemoyne were married on January 22, 1958. They lived in Beaver until 1980. During those years their three children graduated from Beaver High School, Sheldon worked for Cabot Corporation, and Lemoyne spent the majority of her working career in the Beaver County Clerk’s Office.
Sheldon was transferred to Amarillo, Texas, in 1980 and continued his career with Cabot, working as Plant Superintendent. Lemoyne worked many years for the Amarillo Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse.
Sheldon is survived by two of his sisters, Jean Phillips and Dolly Barr. Lemoyne is survived by her sister, Ruth Cain. Sheldon and Lemoyne are survived by their three children and their spouses, Guyla and Rick Fleming, Stan and Chris Shook, and Verna and James Wingo. They are also survived by their five grandchildren, their spouses and children: Chelsea and Richie Whitworth, and their children Kanyen and Brick; Aubree Robinson and her children Josiah and Lizzy; Taylor and Nick Riggs, and their children Avery and Thatcher; Sam and Amber Shook, and their children Sutton and Lincoln; and Gavin and Haili Goodin, and their children Remi and Griffin. They are also survived by ten nieces and nephews and their families.
A joint memorial service for Sheldon and Lemoyne Shook will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., at Clark Funeral Services, 124 W 2nd Street, Beaver, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at the Beaver Pioneer Cemetery.
