Terry Sorter, better known as Gumpy, was born to Frank and Florence Sorter on June 3, 1955. He was the baby of the family. He is survived by his wife Rosalinda, son Liaz, daughter Teala, grandchildren Zoe, Hazel, Little Liaz, great granddaughter, Raya, brother Larry and wife Chalice, brother Jerry and wife Donelle, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents and sister Joanne.
The family has gathered and is laughing at the little jokes we shared together. We all remember the wet willies, Terry’s one liners, driving a bit too fast, testing out the 4-wheel drive, but most of all, remembering his love for his family.
Terry is known as a hard worker. He started out working on the farm and going on harvest. One trip to North Dakota kept him there working in the oil fields for many years. Family brought Terry home. He continued working in the oil fields and farm work for the remainder of his days.
Gumpy was our rock and could make the worst situations better with a hug or an inappropriate one liner. Most of all, he loved fiercely. Just ask Rosalinda, his children, grand babies and loved ones.
We will continue to speak of Gumpy as if he is here. We will cry for ourselves as we miss his physical presence. When the grief is overwhelming, we just need to picture Terry, meeting the Lord and the family that was there to greet him, in his whitey tighties.
