Tom Mobley, 82 passed away August 18, 2023 peacefully at his home. He was born Jan 1941 to Joe and Annie May (Lowe) Mobley in Seymour, Texas. He attended several schools in the Texas and Oklahoma area He married Charlene Bowie in 1959. She passed away in 1983. They were blessed with 2 sons and 2 daughters. He married Liz Maskus in 1989 and became a much-loved father to another son and 2 daughters.

He developed his lifelong, strong work ethic at a young age while working in the cotton and hay fields and continued that same drive of work ethic perfection until just a few months before his passing. He had a unique talent of seeing a work project from start to finish whether before or while working on a dam at Lawton OK, building terraces on a farmer’s land starting in 1962, paving asphalt, building a highway, a portion of an OK turnpike or locating volcanic stone. He worked with Meier Construction El Dorado, KS and Hardberger & Smylie of Beaver OK. He was a pilot and enjoying flying planes and helicopters. Utmost enjoyment for him was to watch his children and grandchildren grow up and was known to be able to put the babies to sleep. His knowledge of history was unlimited and over the years he and Liz enjoyed travels to many historical places.

 

Survivors include his wife, his children Cheryl Custer and husband Tom of OKC, Curtis Mobley, Laverne OK, Susan Mobley, Edmond OK, Mark Mobley and wife Barbara of Hodges, SC. His bonus children Stephanie Maskus Brown and husband Gary of Woodland Park, CO, Erica Maskus Colvert of Tulsa, OK and Jeffery Maskus and wife Lisa of Denver, CO. Also, his Grandchildren, Amber Newton, Samantha Terrell, Jacob Custer, Hannah Zapata, Brett Mobley, Michael Custer, Drew Davis, Charley Mobley, Tyler Mobley, Lauren Maskus, Lily Colvert, Brynn Colvert, Evan Maskus, Ford Colvert. Sister Joan Schribner and brother Steve Mobley, Stepsister Alta Turner.

 

He was preceded in death by his father and stepmother and his mother, brother Buddy Mobley, grandson Hayden Witchey.

 

Per Tom's request no service will be held but the family invites friends and family to meet with them at Alan Clark Funeral Services Chapel,  124 2nd St, Beaver OK from 2-5 on Saturday, September 2, 2023.

 

Private burial will take place at a later date.

 

In lieu of flowers Memorials may be given to Seward CC College Foundation/Tom Mobley Memorial @PO Box 1137, Liberal KS 67905
