Wayland Dean Sorrels, 94, passed from this life Sunday, February 20, 2022. He was born May 31, 1927 in Blue Grove, Texas the son of Tony and Myrtle (Cook) Sorrels. After completing high school, Dean proudly served his country in the US Army. He was a gasoline plant manager for Gulf Oil Company and worked many years in the oil industry. Upon retiring from his plant manager’s job, Dean started Beaver Oil Company which is still operating. He enjoyed playing golf, flying his own plane, playing basketball, volleyball, solitaire, and fast pitch softball, and traveling with his wife. His true joy in life was time spent with his family. Dean was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mattie Sorrels; brother, Tillman Sorrels; sister, Betty Michelini; granddaughter, Jenni Kufahl; and son-in-law, Ed Hansen. He leaves cherished memories with his daughters, Kaye Sorrels, Deani Merrell and husband John, Terri Hansen, and Sandi Flickinger and husband Randy; sisters, Lila Winters and Sue Sorrels; 9 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and numerous other family and friends. A graveside service will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 26, 2022 at the Holliday Cemetery in Holliday, Texas. A Memorial Celebration of Dean’s life will be 1:00 PM, Saturday, March 12, 2022 at First Baptist Church, Beaver, Oklahoma. This will be a come and go to share remembrances.
