Wilda Marie Looney

Wilda Marie (Savoy) Looney was born to Ray Patrick and Fredeah Lorena (Rose) Savoy in Beaver, Oklahoma on June 16, 1931. Wilda graduated from high school where she was active in the annual staff and drama club. She took short hand and said the only thing she remembered was how to write “I Love You” because she practiced writing it all the time to Haskell. Wilda and Haskell met on a blind date and were married at her parents’ house. She and Haskell lived on the farm in the Beaver area and led the youth group at the Beaver Christian Church. When their children neared school age, Wilda and Haskell purchased a farm south of Forgan. Since there was no Christian Church in Forgan where their children attended school, they were instrumental in starting one. Wilda enjoyed teaching Sunday School and shared her love of God with lots of children.

Wilda and Haskell operated a dairy for almost twenty years. She had a weekly route to deliver milk and eggs in Beaver. Wilda and Haskell worked side-by-side in all aspects of their farming and ranching operation. They even each had their own tractor and motorcycle.

Wilda and Haskell served their Lord in many ways. One was filling their stock trailer with clothes and delivering them to different church orphanages. Wilda enjoyed working outdoors, growing plants and all of God’s creations, especially butterflies and spending time with her family.

July 27, 2019 marked seventy years of marriage for them. During that time, they were inseparable until failing health required Wilda to live in a separate home in Liberal, Kansas.

Wilda was preceded in death by her parents and little sister, Ann.

After a long struggle with Alzheimer’s, she went to meet her Lord and Savior on October 2, 2019 at the age of 88.

She is survived by her husband, Haskell; three children, Danny Looney and wife, Vicki of Plano, Texas,  JoAnn Bellmon and husband, Lyle of Waynoka, Oklahoma, Nancy Lewis and husband, Jim of Fargo, Oklahoma; 8 grandchildren, Jesse Lewis and wife, Miranda of Calumet, Oklahoma, Kayla Blount and husband, Jeff of Jones, Oklahoma, Chad Lewis and wife, Jennifer of Gage, Oklahoma, Ryan Looney and wife, Jessica of Bentonville, Arkansas, Kristen Harris of Waynoka, Oklahoma, Kerri Lewis and Kevin Cozens of Taloga, Oklahoma, Jonathan Looney and wife, Lauren of Plano, Texas, Keedrian Boucher and husband, Zach of Waynoka, Oklahoma; 14 grandchildren, Copper and Zuri Lewis, Calumet, Oklahoma, Taylor and Weston Lewis, Gage, Oklahoma, Hayden and Teagun Harris, Waynoka, Oklahoma, Adalyn, Emery and McClain Looney, Bentonville, Arkansas, Bryson and Beckett Looney, Plano, Texas, Kynzlee and Kylinn Cozens, Taloga, Oklahoma, Elle Boucher, Waynoka, Oklahoma and a host of other relatives and friends.
