Wyona Mae Wilson

May 6, 1929 — October 10, 2017

 

 Wyona Mae Knight was born on May 6, 1929. Her parents were George and Goldie Knight of Beaver County, Oklahoma. She was raised on the family farm 6 miles SW of Beaver, Oklahoma. She attended the Beaver school system and graduated high school on May 27, 1948. She attended the Church of God in Beaver, Oklahoma. She worked in the County Agents office in Beaver from 1948 to 1952.

 

Wyona married Bobby Lee Wilson on July 2, 1951 in Raton, New Mexico. She then began working at Natural Gas Pipeline in Gray, Oklahoma, and worked there until 1953. They lived 2 miles north of the State line until 1957. In 1953 Wyona left her job to become a full time mother and housewife. They started their family and moved to the town of Balko in 1957. Wyona began attending Balko Baptist Church and accepted Christ as her Savior at the age of 29.

 

They had 3 children: Jyl, Drew and Gay. The grand children are Sarah, Ed and Carly. Great grandchildren are Travis, Coleson and Adeline. A niece Rita Kay Morris and nephew Gary Morris became special to them after the death of their mother in 1957. Wyona was very active in her church and was a member of the Mary Martha class. She was a dedicated Christian, loving Mom and caretaker until her death on October 10, 2017.

 

She was preceded in death by her father George Knight and mother Goldie Knight of Beaver, Oklahoma; her four sisters Euna Faye Knight and Wanita Sherrill both of Beaver, Oklahoma, Wanda Morris of Balko, Oklahoma and Pauline Knight of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and her four brothers Darwin Knight and Clifford Knight both of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Glen Knight of Perryton, Texas and Winfield Knight of Beaver, Oklahoma.

 

She is survived by her husband Bob Wilson of Beaver, Oklahoma; daughters Jyl and husband Larry Tarrant and Gay and husband Monte Webb, all of Norman, Oklahoma; son Drew Wilson of Beaver, Oklahoma; grandchildren Sarah Udick and husband Steve Udick of Frisco, Texas, Ed Tarrant and wife Tiffany Tarrant of Norman, Oklahoma and Carly Webb of Norman, Oklahoma; great grandchildren Coleson Tarrant of Norman, Oklahoma and Travis Udick and Adeline Udick, both of Frisco, Texas; and many nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends.
